DogPack
A Montréal-born consumer platform we backed at the angel round — built by four brothers we have known for years.
DogPack (DogPack App Inc.) is a Montréal-founded consumer platform for dog owners — a directory of parks, services, marketplace and a community used by more than 1.5 million users across 20 countries and 14 languages. It was launched in late September 2021 by four brothers from Côte Saint-Luc — Dov, Jonathan and their siblings — initially as a pandemic-era project.[1][2][3]
We came in as angel investors in the company's earliest financing, before product-market fit was proven and well before revenue. The company has since grown to roughly two dozen employees with a presence in India, and most recently closed a $8.6M round at a $40M valuation — a meaningful step-up from the angel terms we were issued.[4]
Why we wrote the angel cheque.
We invested at the angel stage because we believed the brand and the people behind it would still be standing in a decade. The Punski brothers are Montréalers we know — Concordia-trained, ambitious, and prepared to operate for a long time before they took revenue seriously. The team's temperament matched the way we run our own businesses: small, focused, patient.
What the company does.
DogPack connects dog owners worldwide through a directory of dog parks and services, an in-app marketplace, breed and care content, and community tools. The platform reached 1.5 million users pre-revenue before monetizing — a deliberate sequencing the founders presented publicly at MGS Canada.[1][2] The most recent financing closed at $8.6M raised on a $40M valuation, capitalizing the company to scale internationally.[4]
How the position has moved.
The angel position has been re-marked twice since we wrote it — once internally at the SAFE conversion and again publicly at the latest round ($8.6M at a $40M valuation). We have not sold any of the original cheque. The position is held on the same basis as the rest of the book: indefinitely, with the founders, and without trading around financings.
